Dr. Keji Akin is a Pediatrician certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is also an Epidemiologist and is affiliated with Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Edward Hospital in Naperville and Amita Hinsdale hospital.
Philosophy
Your Children are Dr. Akin’s priority. Appointments are never rushed or hurried and the doctor makes sure her patients feel comfortable at all times. Combined with her French and Spanish speaking abilities, Dr. Akin is able to make a clinic visit a rewarding and cherished experience.
With over 20 years of clinical expertise along with her status as a board certified pediatrician, Dr. Akin has a vast amount of experience providing care to children of all ages. Dr. Akin received her Medical Degree in 1991, and completed Internship and Pediatric Residency program at Cook County Children’s Hospital in 1998. In 2011, she obtained a Master of Public Health degree in Applied Epidemiology at Emory University, Atlanta. Over time she was alarmed by upward trend in weight among her patients. Dr. Akin also observed the difficulty many primary care physicians faced trying to tackle this problem. This inspired her to find a different approach and hence obtained a Masters in Public Health. Specializing in Epidemiology, the study of causes of diseases and health problems, Dr. Akin uses her knowledge and experience to find the best individualized approach for every patient in her care. In order to focus primarily on weight management for children addition to primary care pediatrics, Dr. Akin decided to embark upon solo private practice in April 2013.

Dr. Akin is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Initial certification was in 1998. She was re-certified in 2005, and 2015. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Akin is an expert in Healthcare Quality. While at Children’s Memorial Hospital, she was selected to train pediatricians on the use of computerized medical records including Virtual Private Network. She has also been involved with the state-wide review of physicians and has served on several boards including chairing a state-wide Pediatric Quality Review Committee.
Dr. Akin lives in DuPage County and has 3 children. She is a Catholic and enjoys volunteering her time at church. Her favorite pastimes include reading crime stories (one of her favorite authors is John Grisham), working out, and spending time with her family.
