Below you will find limited clinical guidance for common medical conditions. Remember to call and schedule an appointment if you have any questions or concerns.
My child has a fever:
A fever is a temperature of 100.4 F or higher. Temperature is most accurately measured rectally in children less than 1 year old and orally in children ages 1 year and older.
Read this important dosing information for Tylenol and Motrin. Please ensure that you have discussed the proper indications, ages and doses with Dr. Akin prior to giving your child any medication.
If your child is less than 6 months old, do not give him/her Motrin or Ibuprofen.

My child may have had an accidental or poison ingestion:
If you are unsure whether your child has ingested something potentially harmful, call the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222 immediately. If possible, have the medication or substance available at the time of calling.
Call your doctor anytime
