If you are a current patient of our clinic, please refer to the following information. If you are looking to join our clinic, feel free to browse our clinic guidance. However, you will need to have been seen in the clinic in order for us to provide the most appropriate guidance for your child.

Useful information for your sick child

Below you will find limited clinical guidance for common medical conditions that your child may have. Remember to call and schedule an appointment if you have any questions or concerns.

My child has a Fever

A fever is a temperature of 100.4F or higher. Temperature is most accurately measured rectally in children less than 1 year old and orally in children ages 1 year and older.

Read this important dosing information for Tylenol and Motrin. Please ensure that you have discussed proper indications, ages and doses with Dr. Akin prior to giving your child any medication.

If your child is less than 6 months old, do not give him/her Motrin or ibuprofen.

Click on this Tylenol and Motrin dosing chart to find useful information which you can print out and keep for future reference.

New Patients

Cute Baby

New patients are welcome and we try to make sure we have similar methods and philosophies in order to provide your child the best healthcare available. We want you to be comfortable with the healthcare services we provide in a courteous and respectful manner, and partner with you for the best interest of your child. Some things are important to us:

Immunization: We follow routine recommended CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics immunization schedule.

Respect of time: We know how busy you are and respect the time you take to keep your child healthy. We expect the same respect from you. Scheduling an appointment means we keep that slot for your child If you don’t keep your appointment a fee will be incurred. If this is a recurring problem, we may not be able to continue providing services to your family.

Patient portal: We use our patient portal for most interactions and communication, including forms, non-urgent messages, billing, etc. This helps reduce missed or inaccurate messages.

Insurance plans: Think of your health insurance plan as the mode of payment for your visit each time your child receives care from us. Ensure that we accept your health insurance plan prior to coming in for your appointment. Click on this link to find a list of health insurance companies and plans that we are contracted with. If your health insurance plan is not listed, please search under Pediatric and Adolescent Healthy Lifestyle Center or Dr. Morounkeji Akin-Olugbemi. We are signed up with new plans frequently.

If you do not have any health insurance coverage at this time, we can still help. Just call and let us know at the time you set up the appointment.

Communication: You can reach us at any time via several modalities. During office hours, call and speak with our staff, or leave a message and someone will get back to you soon. After hours for urgent call, you can reach the physician by calling our office number and listening to the prompts. For non-urgent issues, you can send a message by patient portal. You can also call our back up phone line if needed.
